SPOTLIGHT RACE: Gary Clemons for KY-SD37 (Special Election)
Ive lived my whole life right here in South Louisville. I grew up around the people who keep this city running teachers, nurses, factory workers, union members, and small business owners. Im proud to call this community home. Im running for State Senate because the people of District 37 deserve a strong, honest voice in Frankfort someone who knows what it means to work hard, raise a family, and do whats right.
Ive spent years with the United Steelworkers Local 1693, where I now serve as president. Ive fought for good jobs, fair wages, and safe workplaces for Kentucky families. Ive stood up to big corporations to make sure regular people get a fair deal. That work taught me something important when someone stands up for working people, real change happens.
My work isnt just about paychecks. Its about respect making sure everyone has a fair shot to build a good life, no matter what they do for a living. Before my union work, I served in the U.S. Army Reserves, where I learned discipline, teamwork, and the value of service. Those lessons still guide me today.
I listen to my neighbors. I hear parents worried about schools, seniors struggling to get by, and families trying to keep up with rising costs. I know what those struggles feel like because Ive lived them too.
As your Senator, Ill fight for:
Good jobs and fair wages
Strong unions and worker protections
Affordable health care
Safe neighborhoods
Great public schools
Im not running to represent a party Im running to represent you. District 37 is full of hardworking, caring people who look out for each other. Weve always gotten through tough times by sticking together. Thats the same spirit Ill take with me to Frankfort to make sure government works for all of us, not just the powerful few.
