As New Orleans mayoral race enters the homestretch, Duplessis hits Moreno in 1st TV ad

With early voting in New Orleans’ mayoral race set to begin in less than a month, state Sen. Royce Duplessis Sept. 6 released his first television ad, which features his sharpest attack so far on mayoral frontrunner and City Council Vice President Helena Moreno.

The ad is the first in a series of ads Duplessis is planning to run between now and election day. According to his campaign, the ad will run on all local television networks and online.

In his new ad Duplessis doesn’t pull any punches. While on the campaign trail Duplessis has often criticized the City Council for government disfunction, here he squarely blames Moreno, casting her as an agent of chaos who stirs up drama at City Hall. Meanwhile – and unsurprisingly – Duplessis is characterized as a man of the people who can lead New Orleans into the future.

“Moreno was behind the chaos at City Hall that scaled us back,” a female voiceover narrator says. “Now she wants a promotion? That’s not how this works. New Orleans, we have a choice: Royce Duplessis. Royce is one of us. Royce has the vision to get New Orleans back on track and the receipts to back it up.”
