Election judge deadline nears as Maryland prepares for June 23 primary

Time is running out to become an election judge as many local boards are still looking for them in the upcoming Maryland primary.

State law requires each polling place to have judges from both parties. Their responsibilities include processing ballots, making sure people follow the rules and checking in voters.

“Even if the the local boards are saying like, we’re full, we will still take you because we’ll train you as you know, a standby judge,” Maryland Elections Administrator Jared DeMarinis said.

The Maryland primary takes place June 23.
