Easthampton police investigate theft of Confederate flag from pickup truck

EASTHAMPTON -- Police are investigating after a man stole a Confederate flag from a pickup truck parked at a Union Street gas station and left the scene.

Investigating officer Rick Rogalski is waiting for any surveillance video that could shine light upon the Aug. 6 incident, said Easthampton Police spokesman Chad Alexander.

Around noon on Sunday, a witness called police to report he saw a dark-haired white male in his 20s remove a flag from an older gray pickup truck parked at the 60 Cottage St. Pride station and convenience store, according to a dispatcher's report obtained by The Republican.

The alleged thief, wearing jeans and sneakers, left with the flag, which Alexander confirmed Thursday was a Confederate flag.

Though I find it kind of amusing the truck was parked on Union.
