Judge orders Attleboro election candidate Timothy Barone reinstated to voter registry, meaning he could be on ballot

ATTLEBORO — A Bristol County Superior Court judge has ordered the city election commission to reinstate Timothy Barone to the voter registry, meaning his name could appear on the Nov. 4 ballot as a councilor-at-large candidate.

The order from Judge Claudine Cloutier came Wednesday after Barone appealed the commission’s 4-0 vote on Aug. 14 to strike his name from the registry and, as a result, from the ballot, after finding there wasn’t enough evidence he resides in Attleboro.

The commission received a complaint against Barone from a Florida resident who said Barone had signed an apartment lease with him in Tampa.

The commission also heard from Barone’s mother, who has a restraining order against her son barring him from visiting her property — which he had listed as his own in the voter registry — without police escort.
