There was a guy getting signatures out side of Trader Joe's today. I asked him if it was some Republican proposal in disguise and he said it was supported by the ACLU and the League of Women Voters.

(2,949 posts)Something called protect our vote or something like that. It is designed to make it more difficult to vote and if it gets enough signatures the senate and congress can implement it without concern of Governor Whitmer vetoing it. Do not sign and tell all not to sign it. You also may be able to report the dude for lying in getting signatures on his petition.

(25,469 posts)He blatantly said the ACLU and the League of Women Voters endorsed it. This makes me so fucking mad. I should go back tomorrow and call him out on this! And Trader Joe's shouldn't let him collect signatures outside their store. He probably lied to them as well.

(2,949 posts)Michigan has no law regarding this type of ethical misbehavior. The ACLU did say something along the lines of some restrictions regarding collecting signatures would be against freedom of speech. That may be where he is getting his fake statement from. They did not endorse it!
