So why the did the City Council vote to remove Uber and Lyft from Minneapolis?

Don't they know that many people without cars rely on these services?

The council voted to set minimum pay rates for drivers, and the companies say they can't possibly meet those rates and will leave the city.

I couldn't read the article, as it was behind a paywall.

I understand the plight of the drivers, since I was one of them, but I also know several people who rely on drive share services to get around town.

Fair wage might turn into a loss of their jobs and leaving people stranded.

If that happens, lesser known ride share companies will fill in the gap.
