The suspected driver who hit a woman and her young children crossing an Eden Prairie street and left them injured is a chaplain with the citys Police Department, according to court documents.
The suspect told an investigator that he was distracted by a phone text message on Aug. 21 and left the crash scene, according to a search warrant affidavit filed late Friday in Hennepin County District Court.
The warrant cleared the way for the mans phone to be seized and its contents reviewed by the Minnesota State Patrol.
Charges have yet to be filed. The Minnesota Star Tribune generally does not identify suspects before they are charged.

Leaving the scene of an accident where any injury occured is a felony in most if not all places, regardless of being drunk or not.
