Ex-Walnut Grove city clerk gets prison time for embezzling city funds
Prosecutors say former Walnut Grove city clerk Cari Gillmore was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison Tuesday for embezzling city funds.
Gillmore, 45, was also ordered to pay more than $66,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to a fraud charge in May, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
The plea agreement in the case says between January 2014 and June 2016, Gillmore used a city-issued credit card to make personal purchases.
The news release says Gillmore's actions cost the city $66,598.71.
