Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert (R) officially files for re-election

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Jean Stothert filed election paperwork Thursday, putting her officially in the running for her fourth term as mayor of Omaha.

Stothert announced her plans to remain in the office last March, kicking off her campaign with former Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman in a news conference at UNO campus. Stothert, a Republican, was first elected mayor in 2013.

The mayor gave an update on her campaign finances earlier this month, indicating a war chest of about $614,000.

Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing, Jasmine Harris, and former State Sen. Mike McDonnell, who has also previously served as Omaha’s fire chief, have all indicated they intend to run against her.
