Douglas County Election Commissioner: Omaha early voter turnout so far typical for city election

OMAHA, Neb. — Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse says early voter turnout for Omaha's city election is typical so far.

Of about 59,000 early ballots requested, about 60% have been returned, he said.

More than 900 people have voted early in person at the Douglas County Election Commission office, Kruse said.

Turnout for the 2021 Omaha general election was 33%. Kruse says the weather can have an impact on turnout, so he's pleased to see the forecast looks good. He believes weather contributed to lower turnout in this year's primary.
