Judge can't vote after missing registration deadline

Superior Court Judge Peter Bogaard won’t be able to vote in next week’s election because he moved from one county to another and didn’t change his voter registration before the October 14 deadline

Bogaard cited his own situation today when ruling that a Morris County man who had moved from Essex and failed to update his voter status would be unable to vote this year.

The voter unsuccessfully sought permission to vote only in the gubernatorial race using his still-active Essex registration.

A former Republican councilman from Chester Borough – he was elected in 2002 and did not seek re-election — Bogaard has been a family court judge since 2013.
