Who's running in Las Cruces city council, school board elections?
Two local forums are scheduled for September as local candidates begin to campaign for seats on the Las Cruces City Council and Las Cruces Board of Education.
The League of Women Voters scheduled the forums over a two day span. At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 school board candidates are scheduled to appear in the Karen Truillo Administration Building located at 505 S. Main St. At the same hour, 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the La Cruces City Hall Council Chambers located at 700 N. Main St. city council candidates are scheduled to appear. The League of Women Voters did not specifiy which candidates would be participating in the forums.
The forums are free and open to the public. The Doña Ana County chapter of the NAACP and La Cruces Branch of the American Association of University Women are co-sponsoring the forums.
These nonpartisan forums will give the community a chance to learn about the candidates and hear how they stand on the issues, said Beth Bardwell, LWVSNM 1st Vice President in a news release. The candidates will be asked to respond to questions from the League and from the audience.
