Who will AOC choose? Meets with Mamdani, Lander on coveted mayoral endorsement

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — whose mayoral endorsement could weigh especially heavy this year — recently met individually with Brad Lander and Zohran Mamdani, indicating she may be narrowing down her search for who to potentially support in the race for City Hall, sources familiar with the matter told the Daily News.

Ocasio-Cortez’s influence on June’s Democratic mayoral primary could be especially impactful because other liberal institutions that many progressive voters turn to for advice in local elections, such as the New York Times editorial board, aren’t endorsing in the race.

To boot, Ocasio-Cortez’s political stature has grown lately.

Since President Trump’s return to office, she has become a national figure, hosting anti-Trump rallies across the country with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders that are drawing tens of thousands of people. Her name has even recently been floated as a potential 2028 presidential candidate.
