Meet the 4 Democratic candidates battling for 2 open seats on Syracuse's Common Council
Syracuse, N.Y. In addition to choosing a nominee for mayor this month, Democratic voters in Syracuse will decide who gets the partys ballot lines for a pair of city legislative seats.
Four candidates are vying for two at-large Syracuse Common Council nominations.
Incumbents Rasheada Caldwell and Amir Gethers face challenges from Hanah Ehrenreich and Hasahn Bloodworth. Ehrenreich has already secured the Working Families Party nomination, making her the only candidate guaranteed a ballot line in the fall general election. Republicans did not field any candidates for at-large seats, which carry four-year terms.
The common council has a citywide elected president and nine voting legislators. Four at-large members are elected as citywide representatives, with two of the seats on the ballot every two years. The remaining five members represent geographically defined districts in two-year terms. There are no district council or council president primaries this year.
