Former NYC mayoral candidate Jim Walden's name to stay on ballot

Former mayoral candidate Jim Walden’s bid to nix his name from the November ballot was rejected Tuesday by the city’s Board of Elections.

Walden, who dropped out of the race last week, said he was in electoral “purgatory” as he pleaded his case at the meeting.

“Voters will be misled,” Walden said. “They will believe that there is a candidate for a party that’s called the Integrity Party that is prepared to take the office, and I’m here to tell you he’s not.”

As Walden dropped out of the race he urged other candidates to do the same to line up a one-on-one showdown against Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.
