TS Chantal NC DUer Check In ...How are you?

Chantal remains over Eastern NC and is slowly tracking north. The following NWS update was issued:

Raleigh/Durham - NC, US, National Weather Service
Affected Area
Much of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Wake and Wayne

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

WHERE...Much of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Wake and Wayne.

WHEN...Through late tonight.

IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The remnants of Tropical Depression Chantal will bring widespread showers and embedded storms across central North Carolina through early Monday. Storm total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with locally 4 or more inches possible, with the highest totals likely to be in the Piedmont and western Sandhills, along and west of US Highway 1. This rainfall may result in flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

NO AMOUNT OF MOVING WATER ACROSS THE ROAD IS SAFE. ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.

TURN AROUND. DON'T DROWN.


BEFORE GOING TO BED BE SURE TO SET TORNADO ALERTS ON YOUR PHONE AND HAVE A PLAN.


It's still raining where I am and the wind has started to change direction but the bands are still coming through. I lost power briefly. So, I suggest that you make sure you charge you mobile before going to bed. It's not over yet.

My mother and brother are in eastern NC and they have not said much other than it is raining. (Typical.)
