Steubenville officials push levy renewals ahead of Ohio primary election

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — With Ohio’s primary election less than two months away, Steubenville officials are urging voters to renew two existing levies that leaders say are essential to keeping core services running.

The primary is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5. Steubenville Mayor Ralph Petrella is pushing for passage of two renewal levies on the May ballot: a 7/10ths levy and a 3/10ths levy.

“These are both renewal levies, they are not new, so there’s nothing being created. This is all renewal money, and these levies fund our police, our fire, our streets, and repairs, and they’re very very important,” Petrella said.

Petrella noted that the measures would not create a new tax.
