Polls fully staffed across Lucas, Wood counties ahead of primary election, BOE officials say

TOLEDO, Ohio — Election officials in both Lucas and Wood counties say polling locations are fully staffed and ready ahead of Tuesday’s primary election, though recruiting poll workers continues to be an ongoing challenge.

LaVera Scott, director of the Lucas County Board of Elections, says interest in the job has diminished in recent years.

"I've been working on election over 20 years and I can say that just the, 'I want to be a poll worker' mindset has definitely diminished over the years. It is a lot harder to recruit poll workers," Scott said.

Despite those challenges, Scott said all Lucas County polling locations will be fully staffed Tuesday. However, she says staffing remains tight.
