AlterNet - 'MAGA-lite' voters who 'swung hard' for Trump in 2024 feel 'betrayed' by him: 'Nothing getting better'

After years of voting Democrat, Philadelphia voter Sharita White decided she would cast her ballot for Donald Trump. Eight months later she says she has nothing to show for it.

“I just see things just keep rising and stuff, and things does not look like they’re getting better and stuff,” White tells Vox. “Because at this point, it’s like nothing is getting better. And the economy is getting worse.”

White is not alone in her regret. Black, Latino, and young voters who went out on a limb and supported a party they normally shun are “turning sharply against” Trump, “reversing the gains he made throughout 2024 with traditionally Democratic voting groups.”

“We voted for Trump and Trump betrayed us,” said Jose, a 61-year-old retired Dominican American man. “The truth is people voted for one thing: the economy. A good economy. And these tariffs are hiking everything up. … And he’s kicking out hard workers and not touching the people who don’t work, he’s leaving them. How does that make sense?”

“I expected things to be a little different,” Drexel University student and Trump voter Nikita told Vox.

They also believed the Biden economy was horrible, although they are all living pretty good lives from the looks of it. Nice houses in nice communities, in blue states, BTW. Kids & grands in college. The biggest maga of them all has been to Europe twice. Not Russia or Iran or Saudi Arabia, go figure. For the retired ones, no worry about getting social security deposits. But hey it was so bad under Biden & you know Harris would have made it worse! JFC you morons. What the fuck happened to your brains?

But FFS, how could anyone (barely) survive the horrors of Trump’s first term and think it would be a splendid idea to bring him back?

the voters who didn't pay attention to what was actually being done and that the economy was flourishing under Biden. They didn't understand that the economy doesn't just fail or recover overnight and Trumps polices in the first term were the reason for the economy Biden was having to fix. That is our biggest problem in our country with people not know how things work .

I hope all the bad things in this world happens and continues to happen to them and only them and their ilk. I will never forgive them and have absolutely no empathy for them. I do hope they realize their mistake and truly have remorse over it and that the Good Lord forgives them, but I truly cannot. The damage that has been done and continues to be done - is on their hands, if we are ever able to crawl out of this hell hole - I sure as hell will not be "forgiving" to the ones that dug it and then instead of throwing downs ropes - decided to throw down shovels!

Fuck 'Em and ✊FDT!

I really hate them all for making me hate so much!
