GOP gains ground: Erie County Democrats have slimmest voter registration edge in decades

Democrats in Erie County entered the May 20 primary election with their lowest voter registration numbers since 1994, state election data shows.

Republicans, by contrast, had their highest registration numbers in at least four decades.

As of May 20, the number of registered Democrats in the county totaled 76,842, a drop from 86,462 in 2021, the last time that mayoral and county executive candidates were on the primary election ballot.

Registered Republicans jumped from 66,976 in 2021 to 70,679 ahead of the May 20 primary.

I've heard talk around my area that people are registering as republicans to vote in the primaries.. BComplex May 2025 #3

And people on DU want John Fetterman to resign yesterday. Given the red trend of PA, it will give another senator to AZLD4Candidate May 2025 #4

Are messing with vote rolls, registrations, etc. This is maybe the biggest thing we need to address. They are messing with it in very specific, targeted areas to influence the elections

wanting to get rid of maga. Registered republicans are less likely to be disenfranchised.
