Sixteen employees from two Emilianos Mexican Restaurants one in Cranberry and another in Richland were arrested during a pair of joint ICE raids Thursday morning, according to the agency. Witnesses said ICE agents in unmarked cars descended on the restaurants, arresting nine in the Richland restaurant and seven at the Cranberry location.
In a statement, an ICE spokesperson said the raid was a joint operation that involved at least seven federal agencies including Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, the IRS, and the United States Marshals Service.
The spokesperson said search warrants were executed at both restaurants where Sixteen individuals were found to be illegally present in the United States.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the spokesperson, who declined to provide additional details. Following the raid, Emilianos posted a video to social media showing what appears to be a masked officer searching through one of the restaurants, where ceiling tiles appeared to have been damaged and were strewn across the floor.
