Pat Dugan to run as a Republican against Krasner in general election

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Former Municipal Court Judge Pat Dugan announced Saturday that he will run as a Republican for Philadelphia District Attorney in the November general election.

Dugan, a Democrat, lost the Democratic primary in May to incumbent Larry Krasner, but gathered enough write-in votes — about 6,000 — to appear on the Republican ballot, according to a statement from his campaign. The requirement is 1,000 to be added to the GOP ticket.

Dugan chose to run after what he explained as "a close examination” of Krasner's record. He says Krasner's policies “have brought chaos to our city with rampant lawlessness, open-air drug trafficking, and skyrocketing violence.”

Dugan says he pledges to "enforce the law fairly and equally for all."
