Bucks County DA, sheriff races touch on cash bail: What it means, & where candidates stand

Bail is a popular topic in the races for Bucks County district attorney and sheriff.

Members of the Bucks County Republican Committee ran ads last week alleging that Joe Khan, who's running to unseat District Attorney Jen Schorn, and Danny Ceisler, who's running against Sheriff Fred Harran, support "releasing criminals without posting bail."

The ad’s claim cites both Democratic candidates’ previous runs for district attorney — Khan in Philadelphia, and Ceisler in Bucks.

In recent interviews, both Khan and Ceisler said they support bail reform. But Khan took a different view from his prior platform of eliminating cash bail, advocating instead for higher bails for rich people.
