and we meet bear hunters on our land with a shotgun and try to block them with a truck and threaten to call the sheriff if they don't leave. Usually they say they're trying to find a "lost" dog---yeah, right.

We also get scavengers for ginseng and wishy mushrooms.

That's a lot of time and effort spent to advertise one's repulsive racism and violent disposition.

thinking, "I wonder what I should do today. Watch some TV, work in the garden, go fishing, go out to lunch, work on the car? Or maybe, I could go out in the woods and hunt me a black bear, then come home and make a crude racist sign. Then load the dead bear in the truck and drive to a national park, where I will hang the sign next to the bear carcass, cuz I ain't got nuttin' better to do with my time."

That all would have taken a lot of time, preparation, and perverse motivation. Sounds like the actions of a dark and dangerous person.
