Williamson Med Center seeks used (or new) crutches amid shortage

https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2021/11/09/williamson-medical-center-foundation-seeks-used-crutches-amid-shortage/6352316001/

"Williamson Medical Center Foundation has launched a campaign called "Crutch it Forward." The medical center is seeking donations of new and used crutches for its main hospital and the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee.

The campaign was created in response to a nationwide shortage of crutches.

“Unfortunately, supply chain disruptions have impacted the ability for health care providers nationwide, including WMC, to procure crutches needed to support patients after illness, injury, or surgery. In response to this situation locally, we are asking the community to donate new or used crutches that they no longer need," said Leigh Williams, WMC Foundation director.

To donate crutches, visit the community drop-off locations that are stationed throughout Williamson County through Nov. 23. "...(drop-off locations and more at link)

I've seen them over the years at many a thrift store, and wonder why we don't recycle them since medical insurance is probably paying $98 a piece for them. Medical supply is the next best thing to military contractor.

it indicates there is currently a nationwide problem, so DUers in other locations who have a spare and unneeded set might want to consider calling their own local hospital to donate.
