NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is asking for help regarding a 25-year-old murder now that the victim in the case has been identified as a Knox County woman.

The TBI reports in 1996, the agency assisted the Grainer County Sheriff's Office investigate the finding of human remains in a wooded area in Powder Springs. The remains were found by hunters and identified as a female between 30-40 years of age.

At the time, forensics was unable to identify the individual so she was listed as a Jane Doe. In 2018, a sample of the remains were entered into a DNA database which led to a possible match. Agents made contact with the living woman who reported she had a twin sister who had been missing.

DNA samples were collected from the woman and other family members leading to confirmation last week the victim is 38-year-old Brenda Clark. ... With her identity now determined, the TBI is asking for help from the public in reference to her death. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
