Jefferson County is limiting early voting hours, citing security compliance concerns
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tennessee Some voters in Jefferson County say changes to early voting locations and hours could make it harder to cast a ballot this spring.
Election officials have reduced early voting hours at two satellite locations in the county, citing security requirements under state law. Instead of offering 14 days of early voting, the sites in New Market and White Pine will now be open for just five hours on a single Saturday.
Early voting will still be available for 14 days at the county election commission office in Dandridge.
The change comes from a new administrator of elections, Nathan Bugg, who said he learned the county was not fully complying with a state law requiring maximum security for early voting machines.
