Laredo moves forward with Bond Election

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The City of Laredo recently released a statement clarifying the status of the bond election scheduled for early May.

According to the statement, recent public confusion and commentary regarding the election prompted the clarification. They state that under current Texas law, the election cannot be canceled.

The law states that an election can only be canceled under very limited circumstances defined by the state, not locally.

Additionally, the statement addresses a public comment made by Webb County Elections Administrator Jose Luis Castillo, who suggested the possibility of canceling the election.
