Dallas election results: Incumbent council members take early lead, 4 seats are open

Dallas voters headed back to the polls on Saturday to weigh in on who should be making decisions inside City Hall. Nearly all the current council members — who didn’t term out or otherwise didn’t run for reelection — faced multiple challengers.

Those incumbents all had leads just after polls closed as early vote tallies were released. That includes Chad West in District 1, Jesse Moreno in District 2, Zarin Gracey in District 3, Jaime Resendez in District 5, Adam Bazaldua in District 7, Paula Blackmon in District 9, Kathy Stewart in District 10, Cara Mendelsohn in District 12, and Gay Donnell Willis in District 13. Paul Ridley, in District 14, ran unopposed.

In the race to replace Carolyn King Arnold in District 4, Dallas ISD Trustee Maxie Johnson had an early lead over Kebran Alexander and Avis Hardaman.

Laura Cardena, current chief of staff to outgoing council member Omar Narvaez, had a modest early lead in District 6 in a crowded field of eight candidates. Monica Alonzo was in second after early voting.
