Abraham George, chair of the Republican Party of Texas, said that the partys executive committee has decided to file a lawsuit to challenge the states open primary system.
We decided were going to move forward with filing a lawsuit against the state, because in the 89th session, we had multiple bills that would have done this, George said. So its in our best interest, the partys best interest, for us to go to court and get that done now.

Last year, the Texas GOP changed its bylaws to state that only Republicans can vote in a GOP primary. Under this closed system, voters must register with either the Democratic or Republican Party in order to vote in that partys primary. Some states have semi-closed primaries, where voters who do not affiliate with a party can vote in either primary. Other primary systems include top-two primaries, where the top two candidates advance to the general regardless of their party.

(70,205 posts)How is your new apartment? Finding anything good about it? I sure hope so!

(8,104 posts)This is an old complex (which I see as a good thing as long as the apartments are in good condition), but the place is nice and comfy. I wanted one that had some size to it, and I managed to get very lucky. This one is a single bedroom and it is 900 sqft.
When I was searching, I would start with the specifics and there were always two entries that would make the list magically disappear. One was the price range and the other was my minimum size. Every time I would get past the price issue, I would type in '800 sqft. minimum' and the list would shrink like a cheap sweater in the wash.
But, we are here. Thanks in no small part to the support and help I have gotten here.
