City of Kyle sets special election to replace mayor
KYLE, Texas The city of Kyle will hold a special election in November to replace Mayor Travis Mitchell, following his announcement that he will step down after nearly a decade in office.
On Tuesday, Mitchell posted on social media that he plans to leave his role in November one year before his term was set to come to an end.
"Over nearly a decade, I've given the very best of my time and energy to this work," Mitchell wrote. "Alongside 19 councilmembers, three city managers and an incredible staff, we've navigated unrelenting growth, a life-changing pandemic and a thousand other challenges I couldn't possibly capture in a single statement."
Mitchell shared three reasons for his decision, the first of which related to his confidence in the current council and staff members. Mitchell said he looks forward to watching investments "materialize in the years ahead," and that the city is in a strong place.
