Start your morning with two minutes of the testimony of Samuel Garcia, an average American who drove 3 hours to speak truth to power to the Texas legislature. Lets decide that we are all Samuel Garcia. Get in their faces and make them listen. Mr. Garcia is a great American.

NO!!!
(I didn't get to testify, because the GOP ended the testimony after about 6 hours) they let me hand in my written testimony.

(33,235 posts)I didn't get to testify because Republicans cut it off after around 7 hours, however they did accept our written testimony which I brought with me. The Democrats then held their own testimony to at least get everything on record. I left the capitol at 10:20 pm and driving home was very difficult due to construction.
Testifying in these hearings is important. Not because the Texas legislature is gonna listen, but because maps will be challenged in court.
Most of the testimonies were excellent.
No one supported the map change. No one!!
It was an inspiring day. The GOP did not invite their cronies to testify. Groups such as AFL-CIO, ACLU stocked the members lounge with snacks. (Usually the members lounge is hogged by the GOP, but on this day it wasn't)
Of course the GOP didn't listen.
