Austin City Council decides on maximum tax rate for possible upcoming election

AUSTIN, Texas — On Thursday, the Austin City Council had more conversations on where the city's money could go.

This summer, the city council has been considering putting a property tax election on the November ballot.

The city council also conducted a public hearing on their proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

At the budget meeting, council members looked at eight options for the maximum tax rate. They chose the highest one, which is eight cents over the state limit.
