Spring Hill ISD voters weigh tax rate election, $20 million bond for school upgrades

LONGVIEW, Texas — Spring Hill ISD voters will decide this November whether to approve a new bond package and a property tax rate increase. The district says the funds would support academic programs, facility upgrades and student services.
Proposition A is the voter-approval tax rate election. Spring Hill ISD is asking voters to consider a 3.2-cent tax increase per $100 of taxable property value.

The increase would provide additional funding for academic programs, extracurricular activities and student support services.

Proposition B ($17.2 million) is a general maintenance bond funding the replacement of heating and air conditioning units, interior upgrades at the junior high campus, and other district maintenance projects. Proposition C ($1.9 million) focuses on upgrades and maintenance at Panther Stadium. Proposition D ($802,000) would improve tennis courts and restroom facilities.

The district’s current 50-cent INS tax rate will support propositions B, C, and D without any additional tax rate increase. The total bond package is $20 million.
