Calhoun County official clarifies primary election ballot count

CALHOUN COUNTY, Texas - Confusion and concerns surrounding the Republican primary ballot count in Calhoun County have prompted clarification from local election officials.

Earlier reports indicated the Calhoun County Republican Party missed the deadline to submit primary election results after choosing to hand-count ballots. However, Cindy Krause, who implemented the county’s hand-count process, said the ballots were counted within the required timeframe.

According to Krause, ballot counting was completed around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4.

The Calhoun County Republican Party opted to manually count ballots beginning last spring instead of using electronic tabulation equipment.
