Donald Trump Endorses Ken Paxton in Texas Republican Senatorial Primary

Donald Trump has finally endorsed a candidate in Texas’ Republican Party Senatorial Candidate Runoff. And the lucky fella isn’t the incumbent Texas senator John Cornyn, but Texas Governor Greg Abbot’s ally Ken Paxton, a candidate with a lot of baggage trailing him.

I’m not entirely surprised: Paxton does not have a good reputation in the Lone Star State, and Cornyn was from an older, pre-MAGA school of Republican.

Things do not look good for Cornyn, what with a still-enthusiastic MAGA bloc of Republican voters. If Cornyn wins, it’ll be because God Almighty and His arch-angels decided to do him a special favor, and I doubt that Cornyn will be that lucky.

I have no sympathy for Cornyn. He voted TWICE to acquit Donald Trump during his impeachment trials. He was the sort of guy who looked like he was a fine, upstanding Senator. Too bad for Texas and the Republic that he didn’t act like one in real life.
