Tropical Storm Arthur formed in the Gulf just off the coast of Texas Wednesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. Arthur is the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.

Arthur is 40 miles east-northeast of Port O’Connor, Texas. It’s forecast to track along the Texas coast before making landfall near southwestern Louisiana and southeast Texas by early this evening.

The storm won’t survive long after landfall, but it will continue fueling a significant flood threat across portions of the Deep South through Friday.
