This nonprofit connects people seeking rooms to rent to homeowners with extra space.

This story by Liz Sauchelli was first published in the Valley News on April 24, 2026.
This is how we can make it work. Much more at the link.
BROWNSVILLE -- Jan Lillien and Jack Jackobvitz met online in the early 2000s.
Lillien, now 92, had a long career in real estate in South Woodstock, while Jackobvitz, 94, ran a string of dry cleaning plants with his brother and an interior decorating business with his late wife in Massachusetts.
For more than 20 years, they have aged in place in their Brownsville home, largely able to support each other.
That started to change as the couple noticed that tasks that once came easily to them became more challenging, including moving their trash and recycling bins from their garage to the curb, and carrying groceries up the stairs in their split-level home.

(2,634 posts)3. I have had excellent results from two home shares... one in Missouri...
+ one in California. My current home share in Oregon was a total lucky fluke...
I may be looking for a new home share soon in Portland, OR or the SF Bay area... My son + his family will be
relocating from Bend to Portland come summer. My daughter's family lives near Stanford + finding a place
close by seems an impossible dream...
The idea of moving again is daunting, but being close to family is important.
