Special election to be held for county treasurer

With Vincent Shorter preparing to step into the role of Pittsylvania County administrator, the county Treasurer’s seat will come open; a special election was ordered to fill the role for the remainder of his current term, the county said in a news release Friday, June 27.

Pittsylvania County Circuit Court Judge, the Honorable Stacey W. Moreau, has ordered a special election be held for the position of Pittsylvania County Treasurer due to Shorter’s resignation, effective June 30, the news release stated.

The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors appointed Shorter as its new permanent county administrator beginning July 1.

The special election for treasurer will be held on Tuesday, November 4, the same day as the general election. The election is being held to fill the remaining two years of Shorter’s term.
