Amazon-backed startup raises $85 million for green jet fuel plant in Moses Lake

Sustainable aviation fuel startup Twelve announced last month that it raised an additional $85 million for a Moses Lake facility that is nearing completion.

The funding builds on a $645 million Series C round the Berkeley, California-based company closed in September to construct a sustainable aviation fuel plant in central Washington nicknamed AirPlant One. The facility, which sits on a 14-acre site, is scheduled to open later this year.

“As we continue to work toward a zero-emissions future, this funding reinforces our ability to drive change across supply chains, industries and geographies at scale,” Twelve said in a news release.

Airlines say that sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, is the on-ramp for meeting their near-term carbon-reduction goals.
