Rite Aid seeks buyers for 50 Puget Sound-area stores amid bankruptcy filing

Rite Aid Corp. is seeking buyers for approximately 50 Puget Sound-area stores, according to a list released Tuesday by court-appointed A&G Real Estate Partners. The stores have a combined footprint of more than 875,000 square feet.

The selloff follows the drugstore chain's Chapter 11 filing Monday. It is the second time the Philadelphia-based company has filed for bankruptcy in the last two years.

In a news release issued earlier this week, the company said it is “pursuing a strategic and value-maximizing sale process for substantially all of its assets.”

During the Chapter 11 proceedings, Rite Aid customers can continue to access pharmacy services and products in stores and online, including prescriptions and immunizations.

Since the sale happened during the pandemic, it crippled any growth for the Bartell stores. The closest store to home is a Bartell and the availability of goods is looking pathetic. And several Bartell stores have already closed.
