Jim Walsh, State Republicans fan abhorrent conspiracy theories in aftermath of Representative Melissa Hortman's assassin

The Washington State Republican Party, along with an ultra MAGA United States Senator from Utah, rushed within the last few days to spread false allegations that “Marxists” were responsible for assassinating a Democratic legislator in Minnesota.

A conspiracy theory, fabricated by an extremist right wing website, was reposted on Twitter by Senator Mike Lee as well State Republican Chair Jim Walsh.

Under fire from Senate colleagues, Lee later issued a boilerplate statement decrying “senseless violence” and said he was “praying” for the victims. He also deleted his tweets after speaking with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who was listed as one of the assassin’s targets on materials recovered by police.

Lee has tried to evade scrutiny on Capitol Hill but did end up speaking to reporters.

No such about-face has come from Walsh or the “WAGOP” party account. Nor have the posts been taken down. All the while, Walsh and those who work for him have been flaying mass media for condoning violence and “running cover” for the Democrats.

Some pretty nasty ass shit by the state Repukes. No wonder they have such little power in this state.
