Snohomish County PUD plans open house to discuss new transmission line

EVERETT — The Snohomish County PUD will hold an open house to get public input on potential transmission line routes 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 31, at Hidden River Middle School, 9224 Paradise Lake Road, Snohomish.

Attendees will learn about three potential routes between Maltby and Paradise. Businesses and residents are encouraged to share their preferences, according to a press release.

“It is essential to have input from the public at this stage,” spokesperson Kellie Stickney said in an interview. “We can still be flexible at this time, which allows us to lessen the impact on business owners and the public.”

The new transmission line between Maltby to Paradise marks the edge of PUD’s service territory. A proposed Paradise substation will relieve heavily loaded circuits where there are limited options for alternate power sources, the release said.
