Progressive challenger Erika Evans defeats Republican incumbent Ann Davison in 2025 contest for Seattle City Attorney

Seattle voters delivered a clear verdict in the race for City Attorney on Tuesday night, ending incumbent Ann Davison’s tenure and embracing challenger Erika Evans’ promise of a new direction. The decisive result suggests Seattle voters are hungry for a reset in how city government approaches justice and public safety — an approach rooted in collaboration, prevention, and accountability rather than performative maneuvers.

Election Night results for Seattle City Attorney
Tuesday, November 4th, 2025

Erika Evans | 70,727 votes 62.54%

Ann Davison | 42,031 votes 37.16%

Results are consistent with polling NPI released last month, which found that a near majority of Seattle voters say they’re ready to replace incumbent Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison with challenger Erika Evans. Evans’ victory represents a decisive mandate for reform and a rejection of policies seen as punitive and ineffective.

Her win positions the City Attorney’s Office to refocus on intimate partner violence prevention, streamlined prosecution for serious crimes, and the restoration of diversion programs that prioritize people over property.
