Three candidates take early lead in Lake Stevens. One race too close to call

Sabina Araya, Brian McManus and Nathan Packard are leading, according to early results Tuesday. The race for Position 6 is too close to call.

Initial election results rolled in Tuesday night for more than half of the Lake Stevens City Council. Among the candidates for the four contested seats, priorities ranged from increased transparency to the U.S. 2 trestle project.

City Council members earn an annual salary of $12,000. The county will continue counting ballots throughout the week and will certify election results Nov. 25.

Position 1

Political newcomer Sabina Araya had an early lead with 51.9% of the vote, early results on Tuesday indicated. Incumbent Kim Daughtry trailed with 47.6% of the vote.
