Seattle's new professional women's hockey team reveals its name, logo

Seattle's new professional women's hockey team has unveiled its name and logo, six months after the team was first announced.
The team's name the Torrent and its water-inspired S-shaped logo "reveal a very profound connection to the geographical roots of the area, and our colors slate green and both shadow and glacier blue reflect the natural landscape as well as Seattle's unique sporting community, which we're so excited to be a part of and start contributing to," goaltender Corinne Schroeder said at the unveiling.
Thursday's announcement took place at the Museum of Pop Culture, just steps away from where the Torrent will play their home games. The team will share Climate Pledge Arena with the Seattle Kraken and train at the Kraken Community Iceplex in Northgate.
This spring, Seattle became the eighth team to join the Professional Women's Hockey League. The Vancouver Goldeneyes, which also announced their name and logo on Thursday, was the seventh. They join the league's six existing teams the Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, New York Sirens, Montréal Victoire, Ottawa Charge and Toronto Sceptres as it heads into its second year.
