Claudia Balducci concedes, Girmay Zahilay elected as the seventh King County Executive

Girmay Zahilay has won the marquee 2025 race for King County Executive.

As of this afternoon’s fourth tabulation, Zahilay had 53.25%% of the vote in this year’s marquee contest to pick an elected successor to longtime Executive Dow Constantine, who is now CEO of Sound Transit. Here’s where the race stands now:

Girmay Zahilay | 258,558 votes 53.25%
Claudia Balducci | 221,087 votes 45.53%

Zahilay’s present advantage is getting very close to his lead in the early vote crosstab in our polling; it is now apparent that undecided voters broke for him along similar lines as voters who had already cast a ballot as of when our survey had fielded.
