Massive crowds welcome the 2 Line's Crosslake Connection hours before the beginning of March 2026 No Kings demonstration

Link light rail is operational across Lake Washington!

After decades of debate, votes on statewide and regional ballot measures, repeated rounds of public outreach, trailblazing engineering, and the fallout from a global financial crisis and worldwide pandemic, Sound Transit finally completed the last of its Phase II projects today with the grand opening of the 2 Line’s Crosslake Connection.

Big crowds turned out, especially at the new Judkins Park Station, to celebrate the milestone with Sound Transit leadership, elected officials, and special guests, with a long queue forming to board trains outside of the 23rd Avenue entrance.

To kick off the day’s festivities, as is customary at Sound Transit grand openings, there was a speaking program at which many elected officials delivered remarks.
