New permits for select Link park-and-ride spots debut in May

Special parking permit program includes more station garages and two new permit types

April 23, 2026

Starting May 1, Sound Transit will expand its parking permit program to include more station garages and two new paid permit types, helping riders access spaces at our busy garages. Permit-eligible facilities are those that regularly fill to 90% of capacity or more on weekdays.

Riders can begin applying for free monthly carpool (HOV) permits and paid monthly and one-day advance reserved single-occupant (SOV) permits at these select stations now.

Carpool/HOV permits may be used to park in the reserved permit area only on days when two or more carpool members arrive and park together in one vehicle, and each member takes an outbound transit trip from the same station.

Substantial discounts are available for passengers who have and use reduced transit fare accounts (e.g. ORCA Lift, Regional Reduced Fare Permits [RRFP], subsidized annual pass and youth ORCA).
